Rainhill Student Gemma Price is now studying English Literature at The University of Sheffield
We spoke to Gemma before she left for Lancaster about her time at Rainhill and her plans for the future...
How did you feel on your first day in Year 7?
Really nervous but incredibly excited.
What clubs and activities have you done since starting at Rainhill?
Netball, Science Club, Design & Tech woodwork club.
Why did you choose Rainhill Sixth Form?
Close to home, familiar surroundings and teachers.
What was the highlight of your time at Rainhill?
Being involved in the Sixth Form debating society and then competing at the European Youth Parliament regional and national finals.
What advice would you give to Rainhill students?
Get involved in some clubs or extra-curricular activities to broaden your experiences as many memories are made from them.
Who were your favourite teachers?
Mr. Massey (Form Teacher for 5 years) and Mr. Binns.
Why did you choose the course at University?
Lots of modules on the course to pick from which interest me.
Why did you choose this university?
Good Uni reputation and great student atmosphere when I visited.
How did you feel when you knew you had got into University?
I started crying initially and felt sick! But very proud of myself.
What was your parent’s/family reaction when they found out you got in?
Shocked and overjoyed – I’m the first in the family to go to Uni.
What are you most looking forward to at University?
Starting the course and meeting lots of new people.
Where are you going to be living?
Student halls of residence.
What are your long term career plans?
Journalism or teaching I think!
